Worcester, MA- The Worcester State golf team, with one win already on their season, headed out to Tekoa Country Club in Westfield, MA to compete in the 2024 Brett Williamson Invitational. After a strong showing last week, the Lancers were set to go the distance in their last primer before the MASCAC Championships this weekend. The Lancers would claim the second-place finish at the Invitational with a score of 316.
Sophomore Zachary Hurley (Feeding Hills, MA) would claim the 6th place finish and top spot for the Lancers after recording a +6 on the day, tying with last week's top finisher senior Jack Ryan (Wakefield, MA). Junior Cameron Verna (Natick, MA) would grab the third spot for Worcester with a +9 that would see him seated in 14th on the afternoon. Junior Jon Gastonguay (Ashburnham, MA) would grab the fourth slot finish for Worcester with a +11, that would be good enough for 20th. Sophomore Jon Wasserman (Salem, MA) would be the fifth score for Worcester, recording a +13 for 24th as the Lancers took home second as a team just falling behind New England College.
Worcester State returns to the course on September 28th and 29th as they compete in the MASCAC Championships hosted by Westfield State.
