Westfield, MA --- Junior Cody Osburn (Sacramento CA) was distinguished with MASCAC All-Academic honors for the third time in his career as he underscored 11 other names who were recognized with academic laurels by the conference as announced by conference publicst Emily Diekelmann.

Osburn was joined by seniors Curtis Martin (Okotoks, Alberta) and Derek Serbon (Crown Point, IN), juniors Taylor Laneville (Edmonds, WA) and Stephen Rock (Tulsa, OK), sophomores Scott Burstall (Dorval, Quebec), Drew Case (Plano, TX) and Salvatore Tecci (Franklin, MA) while the freshmen were James Lenoir (Exton, PA) and Joseph MacConnell (Fairview Heights, IL).

Burstall, Case, Laneville, Serbon and Tecci all earned the prestigious accolade for the second time in their respective career.

The ice hockey team posted a team grade point average of 3.03, which was the second highest for a male sports team on campus during the Fall 2013 semester.

To earn a spot on the MASCAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester-based GPA during their season of competition.

Under the watchful eye of 22nd year head coach John Guiney, the Lancers qualified for their fourth consecutive MASCAC Tournament before falling, 1-0, in the quarterfinal round.

Among institutions in the MASCAC, Worcester State had 64 overall selections on the league winter academic honor roll for the third highest sum in the league. The total number of student-athletes also marked the highest since the conference began listing its all-academic honor roll on a season-by-season basis during the 2009-10 academic year.
