How it Happened:

With an opening three from sophomore Lena Waldron (Quincy, MA) the Worcester State Lancers would begin their offensive role that would see them jump out to a 13 point lead in the first quarter of action. While the Falcons would manage to bring back into single digits by the start of the second, the Lancers offense was ready to keep their stride through the first half. A sophomore Alana Smith (Chicopee, MA) layup would re-extend the lead and past the opening 13, as Worcester claimed a 14 point lead with still six minutes until half. In the final seconds a further Smith layup would reclaim and hold the 14 point lead for Worcester as they headed into the break up 39-25.

As halftime came to a close and the third quarter began, the Lancers steadily held their lead with key shots from senior Katie Hurynowicz (Tyngsboro, MA), sophomore Hannah Lomanaco (Northbridge, MA), and senior Abby St. Martin (Putnam, CT). Worcester was able to benefit off multiple rebounds to hold their momentum and maintain their lead. Worcester State would enter the fourth quarter steadily holding their near 20-point lead as the clock rolled down.  Smith would make an offensive rebound and extend the Lancers' lead to 67-39 while the Falcons would make a bid to get back involved in the game when they made several unanswered free throws to keep the deficit from growing but ultimately the Lancers would come out on top with a convincing 88-59 win, outscoring the Falcons by 29 points.
