WENHAM, Mass. – Gordon College's women's tennis team ran its win streak to six matches with an 8-1 win over the Worcester State Lancers Thursday at Brigham Athletic Complex. The Fighting Scots improve to 6-1 on the season, while the Lancers drop to 2-3.

 
Gordon swept the doubles lineup, while only dropping four total games between the three matches. Kaelyn Hall (Sugar Land, Texas) and Maddie Berry (Paso Robles, Calif.) earned their second win of the season with an 8-1 win at second doubles.

Gordon College's Abbie Denney (Peoria, Ariz.) grabbed the first win in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Worcester State's Shelby Jankins (W. Brookfield, Mass.). Freshman Jordan Haley (Portsmouth, Va.) won her first collegiate varsity match by handing Valerie Tocco (Pelham, N.H.) a 6-1, 6-0 defeat.

Nathalie Khafaga (Auburn, Mass.) fell 6-1 in her first set of singles, but came back and tightened the margin up for the second set with Gordon College's Alexa DiDomizio (Mahwah, N.J.). Though, Khafaga would eventually pull away with the 7-5 loss.

Rachel Green (Worcester, Mass.) provided the lone point for the Lancers with a 6-2, 6-3 win at fifth singles, defeating Haley Bean (Trumbull, Conn.) of Gordon.

"Rachel played a smart and steady match, outplaying her opponent," said head coach Courteney Blais. "Everyone else gave their best efforts too, but Gordon was too good. We were happy to gain a few small wins, even though we didn't walk away with the victory".

 
Worcester State returns to the court on Saturday for a Little East matchup at Southern Maine. Gordon has the weekend off before a CCC showdown at home against Wentworth on Tuesday.
