Cambridge, MA --- Junior Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) clocked a the top time in the 55 meters to establish a new school record (7.30) as she highlighted a stellar day at the MIT Co-Ed Invitational. 
 
Other school marks included the top time of junior Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) in the 5,000 (19:07) to qualify for the Division III New England Championships.

The new program standard for first place by sophomore Hannah Werneth (N. Yarmouth, MA) in the shot put (12.23m/40-1.50). For her efforts this week, Werneth has been named this week's MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Senior Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA) placed first in the long jump (5.20m/17-0.75) and freshman Brittany Hodgerney (Leicester, MA) was champion in the 400 (1:02.64). 

Sophomore Christy Deininger (N. Attleboro, MA) also placed first in the 55 meter hurdles (8.59) - just 0.08 off of the school record - and added second in the 55 meters (7.39).
 
The 4x400 meter relay team of Hogerney, sophomore Megan Taylor (Danvers, MA), freshman Kim West (Harvard, MA) and classmate Alexandria McMahon (E. Longmeadow, MA) was also came in first with a time of 4:12.50 and the 4x200 squad of Kralian, Wise, senior Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) and Liz Bodensieck (Raynham, MA) also claimed the top spot (1:47.32).

Donohue shattered a 20-year mark that was set by Brenda Smith in 1991 as she shaved 33 seconds off the previous time (19:40.2). Wise broke Kralian's 55 meter time in 2010 at Tufts (7.30) and Werneth eclipsed her own mark that she set last season at the conference championships (11.99m/39-04).

Kralian, Bodensieck and Rafferty were third (7.44), fourth (7.55) and seventh (7.59), respectively in the 55 as freshman Nina Marciano (Belchertown, MA) placed second in the 200 (28.21) and Kaitlin Gilbert (Melrose, MA) added fourth in the same event (28.67).

In the 55 meter hurdles, freshman teammates Amanda Caldarone (Danvers, MA) and Therese Morss (Marion, MA) tied for second (8.99) and sophomore Cathy Chude (Marlboro, MA) tied for fourth (9.09).

The distance group was paced by sophomore Kelsey Cartwright (Bridgewater, MA) who placed second in the 1,000 (3:22.07) and classmate Ali Barrett's (Hingham, MA) finish of second in the 5,000 (19:33.87). West was also third in the 600 (1:48.03) while Alison Hickey (Easton, MA) timed sixth in the 800 (2:33.65).

Morss and Calderone each placed second (5.15m/16-10.75) and fourth (4.96m/16-3.25), respectively, in the long jump. Freshman Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) finished fourth (11.32m/37-1.50) in the shot put followed by Chude's distance of sixth (10.50m/34-5.25) in the same event as Werneth also tossed eighth in the weight throw (11.30m/37-0.75)

The Blue and Gold will compete next week at the Tufts Stampede Invitational as a warm-up before they attempt to capture their third-straight MASCAC Championship.
