DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Worcester State University's Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) was crowned the MASCAC and Alliance Champion in the javelin throw while Dalena Le (Worcester, Mass.) was the 400 Meter Hurdles Champion as the team placed 3rd in the MASCAC Championships and 7th in the Alliance on Saturday (Apr. 30) on the campus of UMass-Dartmouth.
McFadries topped the javelin throw with a distance of 41.29m to qualify for Division III Nationals. Le came in 1st (4th Alliance) in the 400 Meter Hurdles in a time of 1:06.17 for 10 MASCAC points for the Lancers. She also placed in the triple jump for a 4th place finish (10.31m).
Freshman Mia Rogers (N. Dighton, Mass.) broke the school record in the 1500 Meter run as she placed 3rd in the MASCAC and 6th in the Alliance in a time of 4:52.44.
Worcester State's Emily Visconti (N. Reading, Mass.) marked a 2nd place finished in the 200 Meter Dash (27.07) and then 5th place in the 100 Meter Dash (13.16) for a combined 10 MASCAC points for the Lancers. Eva Bunszell (Bridgewater, Mass.) came in 6th place in the 400 Meter Dash (1:03.55). Rachel Lauzon (Carver, Mass.) came in a few spots Le in the 400 Meter Hurdles at 5th in 1:12.65.
Worcester State dominated the discus throw as Elizabeth McCormack (Gloucester, Mass.) came in 2nd place (3rd Alliance) with a distance of 34.65m and Molly Downing (Dedham, Mass.), Meg Rouillard (Barrington, NH), and Hanna Carson (Natick, Mass.) followed at 4th, 5th, and 6th places, respectively, for a combined 15 points towards MASCAC's. Carson added to the totals with eight points in the shot put for a 2nd place (3rd Alliance) finish (12.25m), and another two in the hammer throw (38.97m), while McCormack placed behind her at 38.81m. Rouillard chipped in two points in the javelin throw (32.38m).
Senior captain, Francesca Casasanta (Milford, Mass.) placed 3rd in the MASCAC (5th Alliance) at 1.48m for six points towards the Lancers' MASCAC total.
Justine Murdocca (Milford, Mass.) placed 4th in the 5000 Meter Run in a time of 20:08.46. Worcester State's relay teams placed third in all events (4x100, 4x400, and 4x800), ahead of Fitchburg State in all events.
Next weekend the group of Lancers travel to Springfield College for the Division III New England Championships.
