Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women's Indoor Track and Field team returned to action this afternoon with a trip to Wheaton College for the Pre-Post Season Invitational. Leading the day was sophomore Jadah Stokes (Chicopee, MA) and graduate student Sthanisha Moreau (Taunton, MA) who claimed top finishes in both the shot put and weight throw.
Things initially got started hot on the track first as sophomore Mia Guinto (West Boylston, MA) claimed a personal best of 9.23 seconds in the 60m for 23rd alongside senior Carly Gilson (Grafton, MA) in 18th with a time of 8.56 and first year Arianna Farrell (Wilmington, MA) in 20th with an 8.67. Guinto would also claim an 18th place finish in the 200m in a time of 31.35. Joining in the personal record fun was junior Bridget O'Malley (Leominster, MA) who ended the night in 13th with a 65.81 in the 400m. First year Emily Bodwell (Lakeville, MA) would claim 15th in a time of 68.41 and sophomore Meghan Driscoll (Mansfield, MA) would end the race in 18th with a 71.73. Junior Leah Berg (Worcester, MA) and first year Samantha Edwards would claim their own new personal records in the 800m with Berg taking 11th with a time of 2:42.31 and Edwards with 15th at 2:46.90. Junior Aubrey Tunnera (Marlborough, MA) ended the race in 18th with a time of 2:52.53. Junior Jillian McMenemy (Westborough, MA) would claim her own new top time in the mile with a 6:49.77 for 25th alongside fellow junior Kelsey Gendreau (Seekonk, MA) in 16th with a time of 6:00.04.
In the 3,000m junior Claudia Symonick would wrap up her own PR with a 14th place finish in a time of 13:03.22 just edging out first year Cassandra Dirsa (Bolton, MA) who grabbed 15th in a time of 13:05.21. On the hurdle front, sophomore Lauren Condike would claim 9th on a time of 10.51. The Lancer 4x400m relay team of Berg, Farrell, O'Malley and Tunnera would claim 2nd in a time of 5:05.79 while the 4x200m team of Bodwell, sophomore Ciara Adu-Adoo (Worcester, MA), Gilson and sophomore Alexis Strong (Southington, CT) would take home 3rd in a time of 1:54.63.
On the field event side sophomore Lauren Condike (East Longmeadow, MA) would end the night in 5th in the high jump with a measurement of 1.51m. While Strong would add to her accolades on the meet with a 3rd place finish in the long jump on a 4.93m leap. Stokes would claim 1st in the shot put at 11.88m and 3rd in the weight throw with a 13.65m toss. Moreau would wrap up a 2nd place finish in the shot with a 10.95m and a 5th and a new personal record in the weight throw with a 12.24m mark. First year Charlotte Collins (Weymouth, MA) also did double duty on the night with an 11th place record of 7.14m in the weight throw and a 15th in the shot put with a 8.20m. First year Angela Crognalo-Torrez (Walpole, MA) would take home 16th in the shot put at an 8.12m mark.
The Lancers are next back in action next Saturday for the New England DIII Championships.
