Saylor Ends Career with New England Women's Volleyball Association Honor

Worcester, MA --- Senior standout Lauren Saylor (Swansea, MA) was distinguished with an honorable mention award for her four-year contributions by the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) on Monday, November 9. Saylor was one of 14 players and three from the MASCAC to be honored.

Saylor, a four-time All-MASCAC selection, led the Lancers attack on offense as she registered a team high 239 kills while her 187 digs were also second on the squad. At the end of the season, Saylor's average kills (2.75) were third-best in the MASCAC were sixth overall.

Saylor wrapped up her outstanding career with 1116 kills, 896 digs and 130 aces for averages of 2.90 kills and 2.33 digs.

Stephanie Barkus of Westfield State, the 2009 MASCAC Player of the Year, along with Marta Brown of MCLA were also tabbed with honorable mention certificates.

The Lancers finished the season at 15-16 overall and 4-2 in the conference under the direction of fifth year head coach Bernie Chase. The squad was ousted from the MASCAC semifinals as a #3 seed by second-seeded Bridgewater State.
