Women's Cross Country Posts 20th Overall For Highest-Ever Finish At NCAA Regionals

 

Brunswick, ME --- Junior Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) finished 99th out of 353 competitors (23:53) to help lead Worcester State to a place of 20th at the NCAA Division III New England Regional qualifier hosted by Bowdoin at their 6k university course.

The finish marked the highest-ever for the Lancers at the Division III Regional meet in their 21-year history as a varsity program.

Middlebury won the race with 55 team points as the Lancers had the fifth-best team finish for a New England state school with 658 points. Donohue's time was the fourth best for a MASCAC institution as it was also 14th in the New England Alliance.

Sophomore Ali Barrett (Hingham, MA) clocked 107th (24:00 - 5th MASCAC) as junior Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) added 131st (24:16 - 8th MASCAC) followed by first-year Chelsey Peso's (Uxbridge, MA) time of 146th (24:33).

Freshman Jennifer Cardinal (Chicopee, MA) was in 175th (24:59) and sophomore Kelsey Cartwright (Bridgewater, MA) was three seconds off in 184th (25:03).

Senior Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) rounded out the top seven in her last collegiate race with 203rd (25:25) as this meet wraps up the season for the Blue and Gold.
