Carrier Tabbed MASCAC Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman cross country runner, Julia Carrier (Oxford, Mass.) has been tabbed the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's cross country rookie of the week, as announced by the league Monday (Sep. 25) afternoon.

This past weekend, Carrier helped her team to its first-ever first place finish at the Worcester City Meet, as she came in second behind teammate Mia Rogers (North Dighton, Mass.) who won the meet for the second consecutive year. Carrier finished the course in a time of 20:57.

"She pressed the pace the entire race and finished with a long finishing kick. Julia turned the corner in training and racing and now competes as would a seasoned veteran," commented head coach Gary Jusseasume.

The women's cross country team is not scheduled for competition this upcoming weekend, but will resume the following Saturday (Oct. 7) when they travel to Westfield, Mass. for the James Early Invitational.
