Lancers Unable to Hold On as Pride Charge to Victory

Worcester, MA- In a return to the Brissette Court, the Worcester State Men's Basketball team (2-3,0-0) hosts Regis College in a Thursday night battle. Worcester is looking to rebound and pop back to .500 after a matchup this week with Western New England gave the team their first home loss of the season.

Final

Worcester State: 63

Regis: 74

How it Happened:

The first half came under way with a tip that went off the hands of Regis Pride and fell into the arms of the awaiting Worcester State Lancers. Worcester would capitalize by getting the first points of the contest to get things rolling in Brissette, but in the action packed game, this would be their only lead claimed in the opening 20 minutes. The first half would start out close but the energy was definitely on the side of Pride, who would lead for the remainder of the half and would stretch the lead to as much as 12 points as time expired in the first with a 27-39 tally.

The second half started with a continuation of energy from the Lancers as they looked to turn the tide of the contest. They would start out promising but this would not be enough to slow down the equally determined Pride's momentum as they would control the pace of play down the stretch. Regis would jump out ahead with superior offensive ferocity and efficiency that Worcester would be unable to offset. Regis would claim the final score at 74-63.

Kirkland would end the night with 13 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lancers on the night.
