Late Surge Sends Lions Past Lancers

Worcester, MA- After a home battle on Thursday, the Worcester State Men's Basketball team (2-4, 0-0) are back on the road as they head to Emerson College for the final battle before the holiday break. Worcester is looking to grab a win to put them back on victory path prior to some time off court for over a week.

Final

Worcester State: 82

Emerson: 83

How it Happened:

The Emerson Lions would get things rolling in the first half off three pointers just five seconds into the action, but it would take another two minutes before any further points were scored. Worcester would cut into their lead and claim it on a three pointer of their own by senior Brandon Goris (Bronx, NY) four minutes into the game. Worcester would not look back as they extended their lead to 10 points after going on 14 point run. Junior guard junior Efosa (Lawrence, MA) would extend the lead to 13 points off made free throw attempts, keeping the offensive drive of Worcester going strong. The deficit would close down to 10 points for a time before the first half would close out with the 46-32 Lancer lead.

The second half action would see Emerson find their offensive switch cutting the Worcester lead down to just two with over 11 minutes to go in regulation. The game would remain close for the rest of the game as Worcester State and Emerson swapped lead control of the game. A last second three pointer by Junior Ayme Daguilh (West Boylston, MA) would hope for both a swoosh and an "and one" but came away with just the swoosh as they fell 82-83 to the Lions.

Daguilh would close out the game with 29 points for the Lancers, going 10-16 from the field and 6-8 from behind the arc.
