Worcester, MA- After starting 2025 at home on Saturday, the Worcester State Men's Basketball team (3-8, 0-0) is right back in action, this time traveling down to Trinity College as they look to grab a win over their fourth NESCAC opponent of the season.
Final
Worcester State: 53
Trinity: 88
How it Happened:
First half action would quickly put the Bantams up early forcing the Lancers to tighten their defense to slow down the Trinity attack. With a refocused defense the Lancers worked to cut into surge and close the gap down to just three points early. Trinity, feeling the pressure would again refocus their offensive strategy, but by halfway through the first half a senior Brandon Goris (Bronx, NY) layup would again bring the game to within a single point. Trinity was not willing to concede ground into halftime though, pushing out their lead to 19 in a late half run to see the score sit at 19-38.
The second half would see a continuation of the first with each team looking to send the ball swinging through the hoop and holding back their opponent. Each team would go basket for basket, but Worcester struggled to regain ground into the Trinity lead. Worcester would keep pace through the half but their bid to cut into the lead instead gave the Bantams the gap to push the lead out a bit further, closing the game out at 53-88.
Goris would lead the night with 16 points for the Lancers while first year Camdyn Shoesmith (Bedford, MA) would claim six rebounds.
What's Next:
The Lancers (3-9, 0-0) will keep their quick start going as they head to Plymouth State on Wednesday, January 8th to take on Plymouth State at 4pm.
