Worcester, MA- The Lancers Men's Ice Hockey team paid Anna Maria College a visit tonight, in a game that regrettably got away from Worcester State. It was the second matchup between WSU and AMC this season, with the first game coming in the opening weekend which ended in an Anna Maria 10-2 victory.
Though the deficit was smaller this time around, the result was the same. Anna Maria grabbed a quick 1-0 lead in the first period, then tacked on three more in the second as they pulled away with a 4-0 lead heading into the second intermission. AMC wasn't done after two, as they would net three more in the third period, finishing the Lancers off by a score of 7-0.
This was the first time this season that Worcester State has been shut out, a tough pill to swallow since they were able to text the Anna Maria goalie 33 times but to no avail.
Nonetheless, the Lancers dropped their fifth game of the season, and head into the Turkey Day break at 2-5. The silver lining is their 2-1 conference record. The next time Worcester State takes the ice the calendar will have flipped to December. They'll visit Salem State on the first of the month at 7 p.m., looking to get back in the win column.
