Ouellette Elevated To Head Women’s Track & Field Coach

Worcester, MA --- Andrea Ouellette has been elevated to Head Women's Track & Field Coach as announced by Worcester State Director of Athletics Michael Mudd.

"We are excited to promote Andrea as the head coach of our women's track and field indoor and outdoor track and field teams," said Mudd. "She did an outstanding job in preparing our student-athletes for competition as evidenced by their successful 2014-15 campaign."

"I am honored to step into a permanent role as the women's head track and field coach this year," said Ouellette. "This is a great group of talented young women with a lot of potential and I am very excited to see what they can achieve together."

After being named interim head coach during the first week of the season following the departure of Jim Lemieux, Ouellette enjoyed a solid indoor season and an even better outdoor campaign, which culminated in a conference title.

Ouellette helped guide the Lancers this past winter to third place at the MASCAC Championships while club shattered two school records along the way. The 4x200 meter relay captured their fifth consecutive league title and senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) won the pentathlon at the ECAC Division III Championships before making an appearance at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

In the spring, the Blue and Gold captured first in the MASCAC for the third time in the last four seasons and took home sixth place at the Division III New England Championships – the programs fourth straight top 10 finish at the annual outdoor meet.

Six individuals also won conference titles while nine student-athletes and the 4x100 meter relay claimed All-Division III New England accolades. Jasper defended her crown with a meet record in the heptathlon as she competed in both the heptathlon and javelin at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

"More importantly, Ouellette was terrific in developing our student-athletes in the classroom, where her squad posted a 3.24 cumulative grade point average over the indoor and outdoor seasons," said Mudd.

Previous to serving as the interim head coach, Ouellette had been an assistant coach of the women's vertical jumpers for three years and the men's long and triple jumpers for two seasons. Since taking the reigns as the jumps coach, 12 individuals have been recognized with all-league laurels and Amanda Caldarone (Danvers, MA) was the program's first Division III New England outdoor long jump champion in 2013.

As a collegiate student-athlete, Ouellette was a standout jumper and hurdler for the Lancers from 2008-10. Over the course of her career, she received Division III New England accolades in the triple jump on three occasions and she qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championships in the event during her final semester.

"If l last season is any indication, they will continue to grow together and achieve bigger and better things in the future," said Ouellette. "I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with a very dedicated group of assistant coaches this past year, and I look forward to the upcoming seasons together.

"It will be my pleasure to continue to be a part of this program while working with such a wonderful group of athletes and coaches."
