  • Riley Leads Lancers at NCAA Regionals

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross-Country team travelled to Bowdoin to compete in the NCAA DIII East Regional in what turned out to be a perfect race day. The Lancers finished in 29th place and 3rd in the MASCAC behind the dominant performance of first year James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA). The Lancers edged out conference foes Framingham St. in the team score with James Riley crossing in 114th for all runners.
  • Worcester State Men Run Strong Finish to Finish 4th at the MASCAC Championship

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross-Country team travelled down to Stanley Park this afternoon in defense of their 2021 MASCAC Championship. The team graduated their All-Conference runner from last season but have been led all season by the strong racing of first year James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA) and his fellow first years, along with strong leadership form the championship returning core from last year headed by senior Ethan Goodreau (Spencer, MA). The Lancers finished the race sitting in 4th in the MASCAC at the conclusion of the race.
  • Worcester State Competes at Connecticut College Invitational

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross-Country team travelled down to Connecticut College for an early afternoon race, the last in a prep series before heading back to defend last seasons conference championship. The team was a strong presence on the course this afternoon, finishing 13 on the afternoon just edging out Clark University.
  • Worcester State Men’s Cross County Gets First Look at MASCAC Championship Defense

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross-Country team travelled out to Stanley Park for a prep face for the MASCAC Championship at the end of the month, this afternoon squaring up against a wide range of opponents. The team had a strong showing on the afternoon as they got the first look at the course that will see them defending their championship.
  • Spotlight: James Riley and the Freshman Experience

    On Sep. 2, James Riley led the Worcester State Men's Cross Country team with a 5K time of 18:13. Two weeks later on Sep. 17, Riley once again finished first amongst his teammates at the UMass-Dartmouth invitational. Just last Friday again, Riley went out and put up a personal best 8K time of 28:09. And this week marks one month that James Riley has been a student-athlete at the collegiate level.
  • Worcester State Men’s Cross County Races to PRs at the Paul Short Invitational

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Cross-Country team travelled to Lehigh, PA this afternoon to compete in the Paul Short Invitational against top national competition. The Team recorded three personal records in the 8k race to compile a team score of 1,123.

  • Freshman Shine as Cross Country has Strong Start at the Suffolk Short Course

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country team began their season this afternoon at the Suffolk Short Course Classic at Franklin Park. The teams raced against a collection of Division I, II and III programs from across New England.
  • Worcester State Leads the Way with 190 Student-Athletes Named to Fall/Winter 2022 MASCAC All-Academic
    Worcester, MA- A total of 1,218 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league’s Fall/Winter 2022 All-Academic that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann. Worcester State led the MASCAC with 190 Student Athletes named to the Fall/Winter 2022 All-Academic Team.

    Worcester, MA- Worcester State Men’s Cross Country first year, James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA), was named both Runner and Rookie of the Week for the MASCAC after a strong finish in their race on Friday afternoon at Lehigh University.

    Worcester, MA- Worcester State Men’s Cross Country first year, James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA), was named Rookie of the Week for the MASCAC for the second week in a row after a strong finish in their race on Saturday at the James Earley Invitational.

    Worcester, MA- Worcester State Men’s Cross Country first year, James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA), was named Rookie of the Week for the MASCAC for the third week in a row after a strong finish in the race on Saturday at the Connecticut College Invitational.
  • Men's and Women's Cross Country Announces 2023 Schedule
    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country team are pleased to announce their scheduled meets for the 2023 course schedule. Both teams are looking to come off of impressive finishes last season in their bid to a MASCAC Championship meet that will be hosted by Worcester State at the end of October. This year’s squads are filled with young talent that will be led by an impressive array of upperclassman returners that look to make their mark in DIII. “We have a young team this year, and it will be a great opportunity for the rising upperclassman to step up now that they are the leaders of the team,” says assistant coach Nicole Gaffney, “I'm looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish.”
