  • Ipojuca Nets Clutch Game Winner to Advance Lancers to MASCAC Semifinals

    NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Worcester State’s Andre Ipojuca (Saugus, Mass.) knocked home a sudden death penalty kick advancing the sixth seeded Lancers past the third seeded MCLA Trailblazers in the quarterfinal round of the MASCAC Men’s Soccer championships in an entertaining game played at Shewcraft Field. The contest ended in a 1-1 draw; however the Lancers will advance by virtue of winning the PK’s 6-5. They will move on to the semifinal round where they will face second seeded Framingham State on Friday.

    WORCESTER, Mass.—The Worcester State Lancers blanked the Gators of Pine Manor at John F. Coughlin Memorial Field on their way to a 4-0 win. Freshman forward Bryan Brasil (Williamsburg, Mass) led the charge with three goals. Jason Barrett (Spencer, Mass) and Tim Schmidt (Southwick, Mass) combined for the shutout as the Lancers improved to 5-8-1 on the season. The Gator’s loss made them fall to 9-6-1 on the season.

Bryan Brasil (Williamsburg, Mass.) led the comeback with two clutch goals, including the overtime winner to bring the Lancers to a 4-6-1 overall record, and 2-2-0 in MASCAC. The Trailblazers fell to 3-5-2 overall and 1-3-0 in MASCAC.
